The Philippines’ startup ecosystem is steadily growing in global rankings, and a new generation of Filipino innovators is helping push it forward.
In the Global Innovation Index 2025 released by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Philippines ranked 50th out of 139 economies, reinforcing its position as one of the most consistent innovation climbers in Southeast Asia, East Asia, and Oceania. It also placed 3rd among lower-middle-income economies, reflecting the country’s growing capacity in science, technology, and innovation.
Meanwhile, the Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2025 by StartupBlink notes the steady rise of the Philippine startup ecosystem in Southeast Asia. In addition, the 2025 Global Startup Ecosystem Report (GSER) by Startup Genome describes the country as transitioning from an emerging ecosystem to a growth-stage innovation hub, particularly in sectors such as fintech, artificial intelligence, and sustainability.
These milestones are being powered by a new generation of Filipino startup founders building technologies designed not just for local challenges but for global markets.

Behind this global showcase is the Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI), the marketing and commercialization arm of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). The Institute supports Filipino innovators in bringing their technologies from the laboratory to the market by providing services in intellectual property protection (both local and international filings), pre-commercialization support, linkages and marketing, as well as technology transfer and commercialization assistance.
These participating tech startups are also program proponents/grantees under the Grants and Assistance to Leverage Innovations for National Growth (GALING) Program, the Technology Innovation and Commercialization (TECHNiCOM) Program, and the Expanded Venture Financing Program (EVFP) of DOST-TAPI. Their participation in GITEX AI Asia is also supported under the Science and Technology Promotion for International Contest and Exhibit (SPICE) Program of DOST-TAPI. This initiative aligns with the broader strategy outlined in the DOST-TAPI Roadmap 2025–2032, which positions internationalization as a key pathway for scaling Filipino innovations.
The roadmap highlights efforts to expand the global reach of Philippine technologies through international IP strategies, foreign market engagement, and global technology showcases. Through connecting Filipino startups with international innovation platforms, DOST-TAPI aims to open new markets, strengthen global partnerships, and position locally developed technologies as competitive solutions in the global innovation ecosystem.
As part of this effort, the seven startups will be showcased to the global technology community at GITEX AI Asia 2026, scheduled on April 9–10, 2026.
**The Science and Technology Promotion for International Contest and Exhibit (SPICE) Program of DOST-TAPI supports the participation of DOST-assisted technologies, startups, and research institutions in international exhibitions, invention contests, pitching competitions, and similar global platforms. By facilitating these engagements, SPICE aims to strengthen international linkages, broaden market networks, and accelerate the promotion, transfer, and commercialization of Philippine-developed innovations.**
The Department of Science and Technology - Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI) is among the DOST’s service agencies tasked to promote technology commercialization and innovation support services, created under the Executive Order No.128 on 30 January 1987.
